Birds, Mammals, and Flowers of Northwestern Colorado: A Photo Gallery
Northwestern Colorado is home to a surprising variety of birdlife, from showy lekking sharp-tailed grouse to tiny hummingbirds and elusive raptors. All the birds featured here were photographed in the field by Jeremiah Psiropoulos, during or in preparation for wildlife tours around Routt County. This gallery gives a glimpse of what you might see on a spring or summer tour.
“We went on a sharp-tailed grouse lek tour and it was amazing to see the grouse so close and be able to hear all the sounds they make while on a lek. The grouse happily danced around us. Our guide was very knowledgeable and professional and we learned so much about grouse and the area from him. I was able to get amazing photos of them. The blind provided a cozy, intimate experience for us to experience these amazing birds. And we saw other birds and wildlife too, including sandhill cranes and elk. It was a great experience and I would definitely book the tour again.”
